Eshom Creek Camping

My eight year old niece Bella expressed to me this summer that she needed to get away.  She said all she wanted to do was find some peace and quiet and to go into the forest to meditate.  Meditation is not always sitting in one place with your eyes closed turning off all your senses. Sometimes it can be staring out a car window on a very long drive or sitting in a teepee that you built shutting off from the outside world.  Sometimes meditation is simply taking off your shoes and getting your feet dirty with the earth, becoming one with all sentient beings and listening to the sounds of nature.  I took Bella camping in the Sequoia National Forest with Jeremy Davy and most of the Bartoletti and Maddox family.
We set up camp in Eshom Creek Campground monitored by the nicest couple Ron and Sandy.  There is hiking along the creek and meadow where you may spot wildlife like deer and bears (not likely bears) and tons of other little interesting critters.  Fire hazards are high so we could not have a camp fire and it rained a bit at night, unfortunately flooding out the boys' tent, giving us reason to come home a day early, but it's ok because there is plenty more reason to go back.
Sequoia National Forest has many natural wonders that are worth checking out so I definitely will be going back someday.  Here are some pictures to inspire you to get out of the city, meditate and enjoy nature.

Meditation

Meditation is not contemplation, it is not concentration
Meditation is a state of being. It is a state of awareness
Meditation is not about doing something, rather it is about doing nothing
Releasing ones self from the clutches of the mind.
